“One of Waimea’s oldest buildings, the Spencer House, survives to this day at the Waimea Center entrance close to McDonald’s. Built mid-nineteenth century by William French, an early local businessman. the Spencer House has included a hotel, restaurant, gift store, real estate office, Attorney’s office, and non-profit organizations. Waimea Preservation Association has been involved in the revival of Spencer House as a community resource.”
